Marlene Marcos is a performer, facilitator, educator and coach. She is a South Florida native, where she was raised by her immigrant Cuban parents. She earned her B.F.A. in Theatre from Florida International University and is a National Society of Arts & Letters Acting Award Recipient. She has been working as a professional actress appearing in numerous plays, national commercials, voice-overs, film and tv programs both in English and in Spanish. Her professional credits include: appearing in national commercials for Walmart, Volvo, Walgreens, Disney, Burger King, Florida Lotto, Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Other credits include: A Change of Heart, a feature film directed by Kenny Ortega and produced by Emilio Estefan; Stand-in for Amy Poehler (with First Lady Michelle Obama) for Parks and Recreation; Starz' Magic City; Celia: The Queen, a documentary on Celia Cruz, premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival; Mi Adorada Malena, the first interactive Spanish Novela for Univision and print ads for Sony's PlayStation.
She co-owned, Miami's Just The Funny Theatre, an improv company for over ten years. Additionally, she has travelled the country performing and teaching improv in various festivals and theaters such as: Spontaneous Combustion and Dad's Garage (Atlanta), Dallas Comedy Festival, The Nestival (Columbus, OH), Curious Comedy Theater (Portland, OR), Sarasota Improv Festival, Orlando Comedy Festival and the Miami Improv Festival, which she is a producer of. Marlene is a member of the Screen Actors Guild-AFTRA union.
Marlene utilizes her combined background in performance, sales, education and team building to facilitate business development workshops, communication and team building sessions for executives and corporations all over the country. Additionally, she offers customized workshops and personalized coaching for presentations, public speaking, in-person/on-camera appearances for all ages in English and Spanish.
For the Miss Universe Panama competition, Marlene travelled to Panama to coach 27 contestants for their on-camera appearances and communication skills. She has coached various private clients for special events such as TEDx and award presentations.
Marlene has acquired many years of successful sales and business skills while working with Carnival Cruise Lines, Florida Grand Opera and US Jesco International. With US Jesco, she was named one of the highest grossing sales agents in the English and Spanish markets, for three consecutive years. With Burger King Corp., Marlene was chosen to be the on-camera spokesperson for their BK Guru's extensive team training modules. She has gained a unique perspective into the world of advertising and sales from her commercial and voice-over appearances as well.
As an accomplished educator, Marlene has lead workshops, coached adults and children of all ages at institutions such as Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Actors Academy, Kim Houston Casting and Florida International University. As Co-Owner of Just The Funny Theater in Miami, she served as VP of Education, where she taught and launched improv class offerings in Spanish. Currently, she is an instructor for the New York Film Academy-South Beach Campus, Florida Film Institute and an Adjunct Faculty at New World School of The Arts.
